Miriam Miles Eslinger, passed away on September 12, 2011. She was known as Mimi to all that loved her and shared in her life. Born in Baltimore Maryland on November 28, 1911, she was the only child of Mable Bennet Miles and Harold Walter Miles. She was raised on Bennett Place in Baltimore, and graduated from Western High School.
Mimi married Joseph Eslinger on June 8, 1933. He was killed in action aboard the aircraft carrier USS Franklin in 1944 and received the Silver Star. Mimi worked in the Treasury Department of the Western Maryland Railway, retiring at sixty five. She was a fun loving person who loved people, Peg O'My Heart was her favorite song. City living suited her, she enjoyed trips downtown, and following her favorite baseball team the Orioles.
Mimi had no children of her own but helped raise Virginia (Farmer) Sliwinski, Nellie Lee (Farmer) Taylor and Diane Farmer She was the beloved surrogate Grandmother to Michele (Sliwinski) Roark, Frances (Sliwinski ) Yuhas, DeChantel (Bahr) Unger, Bryce Bahr and Robert Bahr.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
A Graveside service wil be held on Thursday September 15, 2011 at 1:00pm in the Loudon Park Cemetery.
