Milton ("Bill"/"Corky") William Corkran III, 81, of Annapolis, Maryland, passed away on September 26, 2025. Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army. After his honorable discharge, he began his civilian career with the Department of Defense, completing a six-year overseas tour in Harrogate, England (1970–1976). While there, he earned his bachelor's degree through the University of Maryland European Division, reflecting his lifelong curiosity and dedication to learning.

Known by many as "Corky," Bill dedicated himself wholeheartedly to his career, and for years his family wondered if he would ever choose to retire. However, being at the Pentagon on September 11, 2001, and witnessing the events of that day firsthand deeply affected him, offering a powerful reminder of life's fragility and the importance of family. In March 2002, after nearly 39 years of distinguished service with the federal government, he made the decision to retire. Even then, his professional journey continued at Booz Allen, where he shared his knowledge and experience with the same commitment and integrity that had defined his career.

Bill was known for his humor, quick wit, and unfiltered honesty—a natural gift for bringing laughter to those around him. Many co-workers affectionately called him "Mr. GQ" for his impeccable sense of style. A devoted sports fan, he rarely missed a chance to cheer on his beloved Baltimore Ravens and Orioles. He also enjoyed coin collecting and war movies, hobbies that reflected his deep appreciation for history and storytelling. Over the years, he became famous among family and friends for his endless collection of funny sayings and one-liners—always spoken without filter, always memorable. His daughters especially treasure these sayings, which continue to bring smiles and laughter.

He is survived by his wife; his children, Brian Corkran, Donna Piazza (Daniel), and Karen Wieland (Christian); his stepdaughters, Rebecca Cox (Billy) and Bonnie Dixon; his cherished grandchildren, Danielle Piazza (Jason), Lauren Piazza (Danny), Alex Ponder (Michael), Danielle Van Dam (Hunter), Emily Cox, and Dakota Cox; and his beloved great-grandchildren, Danny, Lydia, Madalynn, Ashton, Kal, Rhea, and Carson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Audrey and Joseph Leyh, and his sisters, Carol Reimann and Nancy Clayton.

Bill will be remembered for his service, his humor, and his larger-than-life personality. His legacy of candor, comedy, and "Mr. GQ" style will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and his humor will continue to inspire smiles for years to come.

Bill will be laid to rest with military honors at Arlington National Cemetery. A service will be held at a later date.
