Mildred Franklin Pope Woolridge, 80, a resident of Annapolis since August 2002 and formerly a 40-year resident of Plant City, Fla., died of natural causes Nov. 26 at home after a brief illness.
Mrs. Woolridge was born Aug. 25, 1927, in Lebanon, Ky., where she was reared in addition to Springfield, Ky. She graduated from Murray State College in Kentucky.
She was a homemaker and once taught elementary school in the Louisville, Ky., area. She later worked for Bowen Office Supply and Borden Chemical Research Plant in Plant City, Fla.
Her interests included travel, needlepoint and playing cards. She volunteered at various hospitals and libraries in Florida, and visited the sick at assisted living communities. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Plant City, the Arnold Senior Center and the Red Hat Society.
In 1946, she married the Rev. Leonard Carl Woolridge, who died in 1992. Surviving are one daughter, Linda Carolyn "Lynn" Sappington of Annapolis, with whom she resided; two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, where memorial services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Additional visitation and services will be held in Plant City. Burial will be in Oakhill Cemetery in Lakeland, Fla.
