He was born on September 1, 1950 in Washington, DC to Howard Martin Garrott and Mary Hazel (Phillips) Garrott, raised in Mt. Rainier, MD, and graduated from Northwestern High School. He previously lived in Cheverly, MD before residing in Arnold.

Mike was a Captain with the DC Fire Department.

He enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Theresa F. Garrott; three sons, Patrick, Nicholas, and Andrew; sister, Gloria Jean; three nephews, David, Thomas, and Daniel; and three grandchildren.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 from 1 pm-3 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, in Severna Park. Interment will be private.
