Michelle Bouvier Patterson Flaherty, age 97, of Arnold, MD, passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 2, 2025 surrounded by loved ones. A devoted Catholic, she entered eternal rest with the Lord she loved so deeply throughout her life.

Born on August 31, 1927, in Stone Harbor, NJ, Michelle was the beloved daughter of Francis Lytton and Helen Marie Patterson. She lived a life marked by faith, family, and service. A member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Philadelphia for many years, she attended Mass faithfully, prayed the Rosary daily, and found strength in her devotion to the Blessed Mother and the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

She is survived by her children Jennifer de Brounner Flaherty Galey (David), Daniel Bouvier Flaherty (pre-deceased, 1989), Christopher Drexel Flaherty (Rhonda), Geoffrey Sauve Flaherty (Kate), Andrew Sandfield Flaherty; and 5 grandchildren Christopher Drexel Flaherty II, Spencer Malloy Flaherty, Caitlin Michelle Galey, Thomas Finn Flaherty and Kiley Elsie Flaherty; and a large extended family and circle of friends who cherished her gentle spirit, kind heart, and unwavering faith.

Mom enjoyed researching and learning about her family history (dating back to 1111) which she memorized and shared with many family members. She loved American History, especially about our presidents. She was very talented as an artist, working in pencil, charcoal, watercolor and oils and known for her portraits. Mom was an avid reader of mysteries and biographies. She especially enjoyed cooking French Cuisine and excelled at creating French confections including cakes, meringue and almond paste figurines; She was an amazing cake decorator. Michelle was an advocate of vitamin-taking and healthy eating and encouraged this practice with her family and friends.

Michelle will be remembered for her warm smile, selfless love, and tireless devotion to her family. Her life was a living witness to the Gospel values she held dear—compassion, humility, and trust in God's will.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on April 11 at 10:30AM at St. Raphael, 1513 Dunster Rd, Rockville, MD 20854, with interment on April 17 at Calvary Cemetery at 2025 Old Gulph Rd, Villanova, PA 19085.
