Michael DiPaola, beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 25 th , 2014.  We will miss him dearly but we know he is at peace and with God.

Michael was a wonderful young man, full of life, with a quick and engaging smile, a loving way with family and friends both old and new, and a hand ready to help others in need.  He was a dedicated student in eighth grade at Magothy River Middle School.  He was a gifted athlete, looking forward to each new season as a chance to grow and excel on the basketball court and on the lacrosse and football fields.  He was a Boy Scout, an active member of his local church community, a musician, a wizard at training his dogs, and an avid outdoorsman who loved being on, in, or even just near the water.

Michael is survived by his mother, Christine Wicker, his father Joseph DiPaola, older brother Joseph, sisters Elizabeth, Sarah, and Rachel, all from the Annapolis area; stepfather Todd Wicker, stepbrother Zach and stepsister Maggie, also from the Annapolis area; grandparents Nancy DiPaola of Towson, and Maureen and Phil Duryea of Pensacola, FL; several loving aunts, uncles, and cousins; and friends too numerous to count.  All of us will miss Michael so much, but we know his spirit will live forever in our hearts and in our memories.

There will be an ecumenical prayer service for Michael's friends and their families at St. Andrew by the Bay Catholic Church in Annapolis at 7:30 pm on Friday, March 28 th .  Visitation will be at the Barranco & Sons Severna Park Funeral Home 495 Ritchie Highway Severna Park, MD 21146 on Sunday March 30, 2014 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm.  A  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church 689 Ritchie Highway Severna Park, MD 21146 at 11:30 am on Monday, March 31,2014.  Graveside services will follow at Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville.

In lieu of flowers, Michael's family kindly requests that you make a more lasting remembrance with a donation to the Michael DiPaola Foundation, a fund being established in Michael's name and dedicated to causes he would have wanted to support, or a donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in Michael's name.
