In 1966, she married Ronald (Ron) Dale Holden of Broomfield, PA. After marriage she taught high school math for a short period of time and then devoted her time to raising their three children. In the 1980s she returned to school to get an associate degree in computer programing and then took a job at NSA until retiring in 2009.
She enjoyed tending flowers in her garden, walks around the neighborhood, yard sales, and family vacations in Ocean City, NJ and the Outer Banks. After Ron died in 2002, she traveled throughout the local area to concerts and events and even traveled internationally with a woman's group. In 2010, she remarried to lifetime friend and neighbor Frank Gathman. Together they toured all the lighthouses in MD, DE and NJ and spent several years walking the Heritage Rail Trail from northern MD to York, PA.
