Melba E. Band of Annapolis MD, died June 18, 2009 at A.A.M.C of cancer after a lengthy illness; born on January 13, 1956 in the Republic of the Philippines were she was also raised. She graduated from Feate University in the Philippines with a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering. She was a past resident of Spain and various Duty Stations in the US. She was a member of "Joy in the Spirit" a local prayer group. She was an avid gardener who loved raising koi in her fish pond, collecting ceramics and travelling. She was always involved in volunteer work for raising money for orphanages and refugees.
She is survived by her husband Jean A. Band of Annapolis MD, her children Elizabeth M. Band of Leesburg, VA and Christopher E. Band of Annapolis, MD. She is the daughter of Marcela Amaro of Los Angeles, CA and the late Hilario B. Amaro. She is also survived by 2 brothers and 1 sister.
A Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, June 22, 2009, 7pm at St. Andrew By The Bay Catholic Church, Annapolis, MD.
