Fred Cook III
Retired Navy Master Chief Petty Officer Fred H. Cook III, 65, of Fredericksburg, Va., and formerly of Arnold, died of complications from diabetes Aug. 20 at his home.
Chief Cook was born Feb. 27, 1940, in Baltimore, where he lived until moving to Arnold in 1974. After retiring from the Navy, he worked as a maintenance supervisor at the Naval Academy, from which he retired in 1996. He lived in Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Little River, Va., following his retirement.
A member of the Elks in Fredericksburg, he enjoyed playing golf.
He was the husband of Carolyn J. Cook, who died Nov. 4, 2003.
Surviving are two daughters, Laurie Cloud of Severna Park and Barbara Connelly of Dumfries, Va.; two sons, Frederick E. Cook of Clearbrook, Va., and Mark A. Cook of Rexford, N.Y.; and eight grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, where funeral services will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
