May P. Harris DeKroney, 78, a resident of Arnold since 1973, died June 9 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie after a prolonged illness.

Mrs. DeKroney was born Nov. 13, 1929 in Douglaston, Queens, N.Y., where she was raised.

A homemaker, she enjoyed bird watching and being a grandmother to many children in her neighborhood.

She was preceded in death by her husband of over 30 years, retired Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. Randolph DeKroney.

Survivors include one son, Will DeKroney of Arnold; two sisters, Matina Hall of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Athena Demos of Toms River, N.J.; and two grandsons.

Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway.

A funeral service will be held at noon Friday at Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 2747 Riva Road. Interment will be in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Basil Academy, in care of Holy Cross Hellenic College, 50 Goddard Ave., Brookline, MA 02445.
