Maureen C. Belka, 82, a longtime resident of Severna Park, passed away at Baltimore Washington Medical Center on February 22, 2017.

Maureen was born to her parents, Joseph and Marion Courtney on July 16, 1934 in New York, where she was raised.  She graduated from Fordham University in 1956 and married John M. Belka in 1959.  They lived in Marblehead, MA and Shaker Heights, Ohio prior to moving to the Berrywood Community in Severna Park in 1978.  She was employed as a teacher in MA and OH, and later worked in Anne Arundel County Public Schools.  Maureen was a member of the Berrywood Women's Club, St. John the Evangelist Church and at one time was a board member of the Severna Park Library.  She enjoyed reading, traveling and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, John M. Belka; her sons, Sean Belka (Anne) of Boxford, MA and Colin Belka (Daphne) of Crownsville, MD; her daughter, Mary Beth Belka of San Francisco, CA; her sister, Georgia O'Brien of Easton, MD; as well as, her grandchildren, Megan Belka and Cole Belka.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 26 ^th from 3-6 p.m. at the Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, February 27 ^th at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist, 689 Ritchie Hwy. Severna Park. Interment will be private.
