Matthias Koehler

Matthias J. Koehler, 84, a longtime Baltimore-based longshoreman, died Dec. 6 at Har-ford General Hospital in Havre de Grace of complications from injuries suffered in a a bad fall at his Arnold home on Nov. 26.

Born in Baltimore and a 30-year resident of Arnold, Mr. Koehler was a World War II veteran, He enjoyed sports, reading and church activities during his retirement.

His wife of 45 years, Helen Koehler, died in 2003.

Surviving are a daughter, Margaret Koehler of Baltimore; two sons, Tom Koehler of Ellicott City and John Koehler of Pasadena; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. The funeral will be at noon tomorrow at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Brooklyn Park.
