Mary Young
Mary Margaret Martin Young of Annapolis died of natural causes May 6 at her home after a brief illness.
The daughter of a coal miner and sheriff, Mrs. Young was born and reared in Fairmont, W.Va., and attended Monagah High School in Marion County, W.Va. She married James L. Young in the 1930s and came to the Brooklyn area in the 1940s. She also lived in Armistead Gardens in Baltimore before moving to Cape St. Claire in 1948. Mr. Young died in 1979. In 1981 she married Ronald C. Lample.
She was a member of Ladies of the Annapolis Elks Lodge 622 and Cape St. Claire United Methodist Church. She was a former member of the Annapolis Power Squadron. In her earlier years she was a horse enthusiast who entered many shows in Maryland and Kentucky. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, attending their school events.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Mary Lou Luckett of Centreville; one son, James L. Young II of Cape St. Claire; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, where services will be at noon Friday. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Park in Glen Burnie. Online condolences may be made to www.barrancofuneralhome.com.
