IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Charlotte
Westrick
December 17, 1935 – March 2, 2025
Mary Charlotte Finn Westrick, 89, of Severna Park, MD, passed away on March 2, 2025, at Baltimore Washington Medical Center, the same hospital where she worked as a Registered Nurse for more than 20 years.
Mary was born December 17, 1935, in Long Branch, NJ, daughter of William J. Finn and Alice Settgast. She graduated from St. Margaret's Catholic High School in Brooklyn, NY, in 1953. She graduated from St. Vincent Catholic Centers School of Nursing on Staten Island, NY, in 1965. She was very proud of her long nursing career, as well as her previous role as a radiology technician at various hospitals in NY. As a young woman, Mary enjoyed ice skating and traveling with her friends.
She married LTC (Ret.) Alton Robert Westrick on February 19, 1966, at the Chapel at the Presidio of Monterey in California, after a whirlwind six-week romance. They later moved to South Korea for Al's career in the U.S. Army, and then settled in MD in 1974. They celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary earlier this year. In addition to being parents of five children, Mary and Al also served as foster parents for more than 30 infants and toddlers through Catholic Charities in the 1980s and 1990s.
Mary was beloved by all who knew her. She was a dedicated follower of Jesus Christ and an active member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, serving as a Eucharistic Minister for many years before expanding her faith journey and joining CrossPointe Church in Arnold, MD. She was an avid reader and lifelong student of the Bible. Later in life, she began learning Hebrew. Mary loved her morning cup of coffee, sitting in her sunroom, traveling to FL, and spending time with her dear friends and family members.
Remaining to cherish Mary's memory are her husband, Al; children, Mary Sharp, Ilene Crabb, Meg DePasquale, and Sara Westrick; sons-in-law Steven Crabb and Anthony DePasquale; grandchildren, Rebecca Crabb, Julia Crabb, Katherine DePasquale, Amy DePasquale, Camilla DePasquale, Everett Schomig, and Melodie Schomig; brother-in-law, Frank D'Arrigo; nephews, Carl Rohsenberger, CAPT (Ret.)
