Mary Hamilton Weed, 97, died on March 11, 2018 in her home.
Mary was born and raised in Buffalo, N.Y. by Ernest L. Hamilton and Anna Sitter Hamilton. She graduated from Kenmore Senior High School in 1939 and was President of Alpha Beta Sigma Sorority. Mary attended the YWCA Secretarial School and held several positions as a bookkeeper and executive secretary; she retired from Harley Davidson in York, PA. Mary was an accomplished and creative seamstress and artist.
Mary married Harry James Weed on August 2, 1941 and together they raised two children, Jeffrey David and Leslie Diane. While in Buffalo, they were active at The Buffalo Launch Club.
In 1966 they moved to York, PA where Mary resided for 49 years. They were active in square and round dancing and a dominoes group. Mary was a member of the York Art Association and a Red Hat Society.
In 2015 Mary moved to Severna Park, MD.
Mary was predeceased by her parents, husband, Harry, and three sisters, Lorinda Gibson, Elizabeth Roskam, and Margery McLendon Grant, and a nephew. She is survived by her two children Jeffrey D. Weed and his wife, Nancy of Severna Park, MD, and Leslie D. Weed-Fonner and her husband, Michael G. Fonner of Washington, VT; 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, one niece, and 6 nephews.
A service will be held at a later date; Mary will be interred with her husband in York, PA.
