IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary A.
Tarr
November 9, 1933 – March 29, 2025
It is with great sorrow that the family of Mary A. Tarr must announce her peaceful passing on Saturday, March 29, 2025 after having suffered a devastating stroke one week prior. Mary was 91 and joins her beloved husband, Ford, and sisters Joan and Barbara in paradise. In life, Mary (nee Yesenofski) was a vibrant force to all who knew her. Born in Hazelton, Pennsylvania, Mary moved with her family at the age of 10 to Baltimore, Maryland where she would go on to graduate from Eastern High School. She met her soulmate and husband, Ford, at a social dance at Ft. Meade after having eyed him in church. They were engaged within a few short months and she remained devoted to him through a 64-year marriage until his death in 2020. A devout Catholic, Mary attended mass every week she was able throughout her entire life, with many years at St. Philip Neri in Linthicum and Our Lady of the Fields, Millersville.
Those who knew Mary loved her for her sharp wit, humor, and generous spirit, especially when it came to her baking. You could not walk into her home or do her a favor without receiving a slice of cake or plate of cookies in return. A devoted mother and grandmother, Mary often expressed her love through her cooking.
Mary lived independently to her final days, frequenting events and gatherings around her Heritage Harbour neighborhood. She walked and exercised religiously, enjoyed Rummikub, and Mexican Train Dominoes and, in her younger years, bowling and tennis. She volunteered and donated her time to the Annapolis Elks, the New Annapolitans, the Women's Club and Garden Club of Heritage Harbour, and was a founding member of the Ladies Sodality Club of St. Philip Neri Parrish. She was also one of the founding members of the American Antique Arts Association of Annapolis (5 A's) in 1975, and she had just attended one of their meetings a couple of weeks before she died. In earlier years, Mary worked as an administrative assistant for several companies and an Adjutant General at Ft. Meade.
Mary is survived by her son Kenny and daughter Linda, their spouses Kathy and Brian Jablon, and grandchildren Shannon, Michelle, and London Tarr, and Sarah and Mark Jablon and Mark's wife Maggie. She is also survived by her sister Wallis and many nieces and nephews who cherished her.
Mary Tarr's legacy extends far into the places of the people who knew her. To know Mary was to love her, and she will be dearly missed.
