Mary B. Scott, a 50 year resident of Severna Park, passed peacefully on June 30, 2013 at the Nursing Care Center of the Oak Crest Retirement Community in Parkville after a lengthy illness.

She was born Mary Lou Blake to Ernest and Hilda Blake of Niagara Falls, New York. She grew up fishing and ice skating on the Niagara River with her brother Raymond and developed a lifelong love of the water. She graduated from the University of Buffalo in 1952 with a degree in medical technology. She was a member of the Sigma Kappa sorority.

Mary Lou married Donald M. Scott in 1953. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Severna Park and settled in the community of Ben Oaks. Here they spent many happy years sailing on the Severn and swimming in Scott's Pond, Donald's dream which many of the community residents helped him bring to life.

In addition to raising four children, Mrs. Scott worked as a laboratory technician at both St. Agnes and Anne Arundel General Hospital. She was a parishioner at St. John the Evangelist Church and an active member of the Panhellenic Club of Annapolis and the Ben Oaks Garden Club.

After Donald's death, Mary Lou married George Bone, also a Ben Oaks resident, in 2004. They stayed in Ben Oaks until 2008, when they moved to the Charlestown Retirement Community in Catonsville. After George's death, she moved to Oak Crest in Parkville where she spent her final year.

Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by her son Mark (Pat) of Brandenberg, KY. She is survived by: three children, Greg Scott (Liz) of Santa Clara, CA, Carolyn Roberts (Mac) , of Kingsville, MD, Jeff Scott of Old Mill, MD; three stepchildren, Roger Bone of Hanover, PA, Nancy Alexander (Bob) of Estes Park, CO and Diane Hornby (Jay) of Firestone, CO; as well as seventeen grandchildren.
