Mary Alice Roberts, 90, passed away peacefully in her home on August 2, 2025, following a lengthy illness.

Mary Alice was born on December 31, 1934 in Roanoke, Virginia to Paul Adrian Powell Sr. and Ruby (neé Prillaman) Powell. She grew up in Roanoke, but Severna Park has been her home for the last 56 years.
Mary Alice earned her Bachelor's degree in Math Education from Longwood College in Farmville, VA . She married the love of her life, Gordon M. Roberts, Jr. over Thanksgiving break before graduating in 1956. She then worked for a brief time as a junior high math teacher. In 1987, she co-founded Eagle Engineering Corporation with her husband, son, and colleagues. She served as the company's CFO for the next thirty years. She also established and supervised an overnight summer camp on the West River in Annapolis for special needs individuals, and was instrumental in founding the Star Community, Inc. in Hagerstown, MD.

She is survived by her children, Gordon McNeely, III (Carolyn) of Kingsville, MD; Alice Adrian of Severna Park, MD; William West of Hagerstown, MD; three grandchildren, David Roberts (Erin) of Pasadena, MD, Steven Roberts (Audrey) of Sparrows Point, MD, Katie Roberts Dicker (Ryan) of Chesapeake, VA; and four great grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers, William Nicholas Powell (Cathy), Paul Adrian Powell, Jr. (Donna), and John David Powell, Sr. (Sherry), as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon McNeely Roberts Jr. in 2013 and her sister, Peggy Ann Powell Daniel in 2011.

Family and friends may visit on Wednesday August 27, 2025 from 3:00-7:00pm at Barranco Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park MD, 21146. A memorial service will be held on September 5, 2025 at 4:00pm at Severna Park Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 114 Ritchie Hwy Pasadena MD, 21122. Interment will be private.
