Mary Dunn
Mary Helen Murphy Dunn, 88, of Severna Park, died of heart failure July 20 at the home of her daughter, Karen L. Brusnighan, in Severna Park after a brief illness.
Mrs. Dunn was born Oct. 30, 1916, and raised in Washington, D.C., where she graduated from Eastern High School In 1945 she married Thomas D. Dunn, who died in 1982.
She lived in the Washington area for her entire married life, and moved to the West Berrywood community in Severna Park in 1984.
In addition to being a homemaker, she was a secretary at the Naval Ordnance Lab at the Washington Navy Yard during World War II. She operated her own day nursery for children of working parents during the 1950s and '60s.
In addition to her daughter, she is survived by three sons, J. Patrick Mewshaw of Chandler, Ariz., Michael F. Mewshaw of London, England, and Kris T. Dunn of Belton, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A memorial Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Ritchie Highway and Cypress Creek Road, Severna Park. Burial will be private. Arrangements are by Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD 21401.
