Mary "Maureen" T. Murphy, 87, a 5 year resident of Centreville, died on July 30, 2012 at Chester River Hospital Center in Chestertown.

She was born on August 10, 1924 in Tidworth, England, and attended school in Dublin, Ireland. Maureen moved to Maryland to marry her husband, whom she met in 1948 during the Berlin Airlift. She came over on a boat in 1952 and married Thomas Murphy in the Baltimore Basilica Cathedral. They moved to Severna Park in 1969.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Thomas Murphy.

She is survived by her daughter, Moira Murphy Spry (Jay) of Centreville; one sister, Blanche Yates of Wigan, United Kingdom; and two grandchildren, Nicola Frost and Keely Spry, both of Centreville.

Family and friends may visit on Friday, August 3, 2012 from 5-8 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, MD 21146. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 10 AM at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, MD 21146. Interment will be at a later date in MD Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
