Mary Elizabeth Knight (nee: McNelly), 79, of Arnold, died at Anne Arundel Medical Center on July 24, 2012 following a brief illness.

Mary was born to her parents, John and Agnes McNelly on February 20, 1933 in Whitinsville, MA where she was raised. She attended North Bridge Schools and later served as a governess to several families in Providence, RI. She married Richard Knight on June 26, 1954 in the Whitinsville Methodist Church. That same year they moved to Baltimore to raise their family. In 1969, they settled in Arnold, MD.

Mary was a member of the Severna Park Ladies of the Elks and also of Square Dealers. In addition she enjoyed many sports and hobbies including dancing, ice skating, aquatics, bowling, tennis, and painting. She won numerous awards in county fairs for her fruits and quilts.

Mrs. Knight was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and three brothers, John, George, and Charles McNelly. She is survived by her daughter, Susan E. Knight of Pasadena; her sons, Troy N. Knight and David N. Knight of Arnold, MD, and Bryan N. Knight of Landover, MD; her granddaughter, Erin Wingfield; her brothers, Clyde McNelly of Douglas, MA, and Merrill McNelly of Sutton, MA; her sister, Eileen McNelly of North Bridge, MA; her sisters-in-law, Louise Gauer and Pat Sollanek of Baltimore, MD; as well as several nieces and nephews.
