Mary Eugene "Gene" Fitzsimmons passed away peacefully on July 14, 2019 at the age of 83.  Born Mary E. Harding on November 23, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Birdie Young (nee Burns) and James Harding.  She is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, John "Jack" Fitzsimmons and her 3 children: Carolyn Frye (Marty), Vickie Fitzsimmons (Eric), and John Fitzsimmons, Jr. (Dawn).  She was lovingly called Granny by her seven grandchildren: Jennifer O'Hare (Patrick), Beth Hunt (Dan), Matthew Hunt (Kerry), the late Jaclyn Hunt, Mark Baer (Katie), Taylor Fitzsimmons, and Jake Fitzsimmons, and four great grandchildren: Chloe, Vann, Paige, and Corinne, whom she adored.  Gene was the oldest of four girls: Katherine Long, the late Carole Werner, and the late Margaret Long.  She always had a soft heart for children, even ones that weren't her own.  She loved time spent with her family, shopping, working in the yard, and doing special things for those she loved.

Friends may visit on Thursday July 18, 2019 from 2:00pm-4:00pm & 6:00pm-8:00pm at the Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A. 495 Ritchie Hwy. Severna Park, MD 21146. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Friday July 19, 2019 at 10:00am at St. Jane Frances Catholic Church 8499 Virginia Ave. Pasadena, MD 21122.
