Mary A.
Finnerty
Apr 4, 1933 — Jul 8, 2026
Mary Ann Finnerty, 93, departed peacefully while surrounded by loved ones at Hospice of the Chesapeake in Pasadena on July 8, 2026.
Mary was born on April 4, 1933 in Cleveland, Ohio. A beloved child to the late Charles Mahoney and Viola Mahoney.
Mary met her husband James Finnerty during the summer of 1965 in Cleveland, Ohio. At the time Mary was 31 years old and a widow with five children. Shortly after Mary met Jim, they fell in love. They married a short time later and moved to Arnold, Maryland where Mary dedicated her life to her family. Mary was married to Jim for 61 years.
Mary had many interests. Early on she fell in love with Annapolis and its extensive history and storied past. This led her to become a docent and eventually an employee for the William Paca House and Garden, a National Historic landmark Georgian mansion located in the heart of Historic Annapolis.
Mary loved to do counted cross stitch in her spare time. As a way to express her love for her family, Mary would often give her mounted and framed cross stitch pictures to her beloved family members as a keepsake.
Mary loved Ocean City, Maryland. She enjoyed her condo on the ocean, taking long walks on the beach and spending lots of time with family in this incredibly family friendly town.
Mary especially loved hosting birthday parties for her family members. Once a month the family would gather for the latest person’s birthday party where family found pleasure, comfort and happiness in spending time together around the dinner table.
It should be said that Mary also loved the newest addition to her family, her little Yorkshire terrier, Maggie who was so often a great comfort to her especially these last few months.
Mary Finnerty is survived by her husband, James Finnerty; her sons, Michael Finnerty and his wife Paulina, Mark Finnerty and his wife Janice, Gary Finnerty and his wife Lucia; her daughters, Sharon Waldrep, Carla Mason and her husband Richard; her grandchildren, Kevin, Matt, Faren, Megan, Erica, Brittany, Samantha; her great grandchildren, Olivia, Grant, Henry, & Onyx
There will be a visitation limited to family and close friends at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, MD, 21146.
