Mary Kathleen (Kathy) Drazan (nee Collins) of Severna Park, Maryland passed away at AAMC on the morning of December 24, 2018. Born in Littlestown, PA, she came to Maryland to attend the University of Maryland and completed a teaching degree in Science and Health education. She taught science and health in different schools in Anne Arundel County, later becoming a guidance counselor working at Northeast, Arundel, and Old Mill high schools. She met her husband of 37 years, Frank Drazan, at Arundel High School and they were married in August of 1981. Kathy touched the lives of many students and stayed in touch with a number of them until her death. Besides her calling as an educator, Kathy lived for her children and later, her grandchildren. She attended numerous sporting events, graduations, and life events. Kathy battled ovarian cancer on and off for the last 15 years of her life, undergoing numerous treatments. Those who loved her cherish their memories of her unconditional love, wit, compassion, appropriate doses of mischief and appreciation of manual transmissions. Preceded in death by her parents (George G. Collins and Helen Smeak Collins) and her brother (George Collins), she is survived by her husband, Frank, puppy Shadow, daughter Katie (Mike), son Tom, grandchildren (Heath & Laine), brothers Michael (Schatzie) Collins and Bob Collins, sister-in-law Maria Shomper, and numerous nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. Friends may visit her Celebration of Life on Sunday, December 30 from 1:00pm – 4:00pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral home at 495 Ritchie Hwy. Severna Park, MD 21146. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, December 31, 2018 at 10:00am at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 801 Stevenson Road, Severn, MD 21144.
