Mary Ellen Corwell, 92, of Severna Park, died of heart failure Feb. 26 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie.
Mrs. Corwell was born Jan. 29, 1914, in Baltimore. In 1934 she married J. Wilson Corwell who died March 2, 1986.
The couple moved to Severna Park in 1945 to open their business, Corwell's Food Market, at 166 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd. In 2004, Mrs. Corwell sold the store in the 100-year-old building to Marty and Mary Reese, who used to shop at the store located near Magothy Bridge Road.
Mrs. Corwell enjoyed shopping, music and dancing.
Surviving are two sons, Ronald W. and Gregory J. Corwell, and two daughters, Diane E. Corwell-Young and Mary Patricia Woods, all of Severna Park; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was the sister of the late Teresa Wilkinson, Beatrice Johnson and Helene Todd.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 tonight and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. A Mass of Christian burial will be said at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Severna Park. Burial will be in New Cathedral Cemetery at 4300 Old Frederick Road, Baltimore.

Corwell (Donna), Diane E. Corwell-Young (John), and Mary Patricia Woods (Bill). Loving Grandmother of 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Friends may visit at the Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home on Tuesday 6-8pm and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm.
