Mary Ann Cardillo, 75, of Pasadena, Maryland, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Hospice of the Chesapeake on the morning of November 11, 2019. She fought a long and difficult battle after an emergency surgery in May, 2019 before the Lord ended her suffering and called her home to rest.

Born on October 13, 1944 in Utica, New York, she was the daughter of Joseph and Jane (Brown) Steppello. She enjoyed dancing and singing as a child and then lived and worked in Utica for most of her life. She worked various manual labor jobs for most of her life but always found a way to get by. She didn't have a lot, but she was very generous, and always put others needs before her own. When the opportunity arose, she moved to Pasadena, Maryland, with her youngest son (Raymond) and his family, and enjoyed a beautiful in-law apartment, the Maryland sun, and all the family adventures they took together.

Mary always made time to be the most loving mother and grandmother she could possibly be. She truly loved spending time with all of her family and they truly loved spending time with her. She looked forward to every holiday because she knew it meant more family time and it was an excuse to cook in abundance. She truly loved cooking and filling people with love from the belly out (and nobody ever left her house hungry). She will truly be missed by all of the hearts and souls she touched.

Mary is predeceased by her husband, "Ray" (Raymond A. Cardillo III). They affectionately called each other "Kook" and loved each other deeply. She was also pre-deceased by her parents Joseph F. Steppello and Jane E. Brown (Steppello); her sisters, Cornelia Steppello and Theresa Taylor (Steppello); and her brother Ralph J. Steppello.

She is survived by her children Laurie L. Leaf (DeCicco), Anthony J. DeCicco (and his wife Michele), and Raymond A. Cardillo IV "Raymie" (and his wife Lisa Cardillo), as well as seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, JoAnn Jones (Steppello) and Patricia Horn (Steppello); and her brother, Joseph Steppello. Finally, she is survived by her "baby" Zoey (a chihuahua that she loved like her own child) who she placed in the loving care of her closest friend, Bernadette "Bernie" Bates.

In her own words, "I love them all, with all of my heart and soul."

A Memorial Mass will be Celebrated on Thursday November 14, 2019 at 10:00am at the St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church 689 Ritchie Hwy. Severna Park, MD 21146.
