Mary Etta Banister (née Stewart), affectionately known as Midge, passed away on August 16, 2024, in Pasadena, Maryland, at the age of 84. Born on November 29, 1939, in Baltimore, Maryland, she lived a life marked by dedication to her family and community.
Midge was a lifelong homemaker, a role she cherished deeply, providing a warm and loving home for her family. She was married to the late Gregory Banister, and together they raised a family filled with love and care. Midge was a devout Catholic, participating actively in her faith community throughout her life.
She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Sawyer; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; her sister, Lucille Wright; and her brother, Edward Stewart. Midge was preceded in death by her husband, Gregory; sons, Craig and Christopher Banister; her parents, Mary (Seebach) and Edward Stewart; and her sisters, Betty Miller and Jan Anderson.
Midge had a passion for crafts, sewing, cooking, cleaning, and especially enjoyed eating crabs—a true Marylander at heart.
Her hobbies and pets brought her great joy.
A private service to honor and celebrate her life will be held at Meadowridge Memorial Park, 7250 Washington Blvd, Elkridge, MD 21075. The family is being assisted by Barranco Funeral Home in Severna Park.
