Mary Ann Adams, 93, a resident of Severna Park for more than 50 years, passed away October 12th at Asbury Methodist Village in Gaithersburg, her home for the past two years.

Mrs. Adams was born June 13, 1920 in Pennington Gap, Virginia. She moved to Doswell, VA as a young girl and lived there until she married and moved to Maryland.

She was a devoted mother, an accomplished cook, hostess and gardener, and an active volunteer. For many years, she was involved with Meals on Wheels, delivering meals to shut-ins. Her home was beautifully decorated with her sewing projects and handiwork. Her special gift was one of hospitality, and her back door was always open to friends and neighbors.

She was a long time member of Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Severna Park. She also was an excellent bridge player, belonging to several neighborhood bridge groups. She was an avid sports fan, but had a special fondness for USNA football and the Orioles.

She is survived by her son, Bob Adams and his wife, Patti, of Darnestown, MD, two grandchildren, Kathleen and Brian, two great grandchildren, Matthew & Jazmine, and her sister, Helen Bowman. Her husband Bob, a Naval Academy graduate and long time Westinghouse employee, predeceased her in 1989.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 15th at 11:00 AM at Asbury Methodist Village in The Guild Memorial Chapel, 211 Russell Ave., Gaithersburg, MD.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Asbury Methodist Village, Attn: Foundation Office, 201 Russell Ave., Gaithersburg, MD 20877.
