Martin Irvin Micken, 84, a 42 year resident of Glen Burnie, died on December 21, 2013 at his home.
He was born on October 18, 1929 in Pequea, PA (Lancaster County) and was raised by his sister Ruth Falk at age 3 until he joined the U.S. Air Force.
Martin served in the U.S. Air Force from December 1950 until March 1971 and retired as a Senior Master Sergeant. He was in the SAC Command Unit and worked in the missile program during his career until his retirement. Martin donated to the Air Force Monument in Washington D.C. and he was active in CHAMPUS.
He loved camping, fishing, crabbing, playing with his grandchildren, and spending time with his family. Martin enjoyed visiting with his wife everyday at FutureCare Chesapeake.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Aldus Micken and Margaret D. Micken; two sisters, Ruth Falk and Gussie Erb; and one brother, Aldus Micken.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine A. Micken of Glen Burnie; two sons, Gary W. Micken of Chestertown and Donald M. Micken of Stevensville; two daughters, Deborah L. "Micken" Clark of Annapolis and Brenda L. "Micken" Rash of Grasonville; eight grandchildren, Holli Davis, Jason Van Hoose, Michael Rash Jr., Jennifer Clark, Stephanie Shaw, Matthew Micken, Donny Micken, and Marty Micken; and eight great grandchildren, Joshua Garcia, Ryan Van Hoose, Drew Van Hoose, Lani Davis, James Shaw, Jr., Samantha Shaw, Adalynn Micken, and Brooke Shaw.
Family and friends may visit from 4-7 pm on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, MD 21146. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, December 30, 2013 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, MD.
