Martin (Marty) Christopher Gerhold, 32, a resident of Cheyenne, Wyoming since 2007 and formerly a resident of Hedgesville, W. Va. and Cape St. Claire, Md., passed away June 25, 2009.
Marty was born December 25, 1976, in Annapolis, Maryland. He attended the Cape St. Claire Elementary School and Hedgesville High School in West Virginia during his Junior & Senior year where he graduated in 1994.
Marty attended the West Virginia University 2003 – 2006. He received a Bachelor of Science in Geology with minors in GIS and Communication. While attending the University, he received Scholarships for Academic Achievements, earned the second highest grade in WVU's Geology Field Mapping course, worked as a Research Assistant, and was Secretary of the AAPG-WVU Student Chapter.
His interests included snow boarding, hunting, outdoors, traveling, being with his family and his faithful dog Lexie.
Surviving are his mother, Linda (Lynn) Sappington and husband Glenn of Annapolis, Md. His father Gary M. Gerhold and wife Cheri of Hedgesville, WV, sister Michelle L. Rush and husband Shawn and their daughter Jessica of Pasadena, Md. Four stepsisters, Debra T. Cramer of Centreville, Md., Patricia L. Sappington of Clearwater, Fla., Mindy Stevenson of Greencastle, Pa. and Jill Toms of Waynesboro, Pa.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 11, 2009 at the Barranco & Sons Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, 21146. Visitation for family and friends will be from 11 AM until 1 PM followed by a Memorial Service.
