Martin Bennett

Dr. Martin K. Bennett, 90, a 20-year resident of Annapolis and formerly of northern Virginia, died of pneumonia July 5 at Anne Arundel Medical Center.

Dr. Bennett was born Aug. 2, 1917, and raised in New York. He was retired from the Food and Drug Administration where he worked as a chemist for 30 years.

He graduated from Columbia University with a master's degree followed by his doctorate of pharmacy.

He was a former member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He loved spending time with his family and helping his late wife Dorothy Bennett in her practice as a portrait artist.

He was preceded in death by one son, Robert Bennett, one sister, Adele Lebenson and one brother, Dr. Howard Bennett.

Survivors include one daughter, Margery Puccinelli of Millersville; three sons, Richard Bennett of Garner, N.C., Barton Bennett of Herndon, Va., and Steven Bennett of Annapolis; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. tomorrow followed by a 10:30 a.m. funeral service at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
