Martha D. Guthrie passed away on December 31, 2024, she was 85.

Martha was born on July 31, 1939 in Pittsburgh, PA to DR. Sterrett E. Dietrich and Eleanor (neé Carter) Dietrich. She grew up in Pittsburgh and at Army Posts Worldwide, due to her father's service as a Colonel in the U.S. Army. She attended Warwick High School (VA) and William & Mary College, from which she earned her Bachelor's degree in 1961. She married the love of her life, Thomas B. Guthrie, in August of 1961 and they lived at various Army Posts including Japan and Alaska, before settling in Annapolis, MD. Her Catholic faith was important to her, and she was a member of St. Andrew by the Bay Catholic Church. Her career included work as a receptionist and as a Business Manager for a Dental Office. She enjoyed cooking, and volunteer work.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Thomas B. Guthrie of Annapolis, MD; her daughter Bonnie Guthrie of Annapolis, MD; her son Ret. Col. Thomas P. Guthrie (Kim) of Kansas City, KS; her nieces Molly Williams of New London, NH, Melaine Porterfield of Roanoke, VA, and Melissa Gilmore of Richmond, VA; her granddaughter Merrin Guthrie of Kansas City, KS; and her grandson Thomas F. Guthrie of Memphis, TN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her son, Kevin M. Guthrie.

Family and friends may visit on Sunday, January 12, 2025 from 3pm to 5pm at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A., 495 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, MD 21146.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, January 13, 2025 at 11am in St. Andrew by the Bay Roman Catholic Church, 701 College Pkwy, Annapolis, MD 21409.

Interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery on Monday February 24, 2025 at 1pm.
