Martha Jean Grisham Stocks, 85, a resident of Severna Park, died February 7, 2009 at FutureCare Chesapeake in Arnold.

She was born February 12, 1923 in Baldwyn, MS, where she was raised. She had moved from Baldwyn to Arlington, VA, after marrying her husband, Argyle Taylor Stocks on July 16, 1949. She lived in Linthicum and Severna Park for 50 years.

She attended Mississippi College for Women and was employed with Bank of Baldwyn and Gantos at Marley Station Mall.

Mrs. Stocks was a member of Annapolis Church of Christ.

She enjoyed football.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Argyle Taylor Stocks, who died on February 17, 1987.

Survived by her two daughters, Deborah Stocks Boizelle of Potomac, MD and Julia Stocks Graham of Annapolis, MD; one son, Argyle (Gyle) Taylor Stocks of Severna Park, MD; seven grandchildren, Ashley, Adam Taylor and Bret Boizelle; Meghan, Christopher and Sarah Corneal ; and Taylor Stocks.
Mrs. Stocks was the cousin of writer, John Grisham.

Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Gov. Ritchie Highway in Severna Park. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, February 12, 2009 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in National Memorial Park, Falls Church, VA
