Marlene Christine Monaghan, 80, of Annapolis, passed away at her home on Tuesday, February 28th.

She was born on February 2 nd , 1943, in Baltimore. She spent her early childhood in Highlandtown before moving to Riviera Beach, where she met the love of her life James Carl Monaghan Jr. Following their wedding on May 4 th , 1963, they ultimately settled in Annapolis, where she lived for the past 60 years.

In addition to raising three children, Marlene had a fulfilling career in accounting and management for several local businesses, where she was known to keep her bosses in line.

She was a passionate gardener, bird enthusiast, and a wonderful homemaker. She was a devoted member of her church where she selflessly volunteered her time for the Bereavement Ministry, the St. Vincent De Paul Society, and many other causes. Marlene was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth and Christian Miller, along with her beloved husband, James Carl Monaghan Jr.

Marlene is survived by her children: Michele and Kamran Amini, Kelly and Larry Shipman, and Eric and Peg Monaghan; grandchildren: Ryan, Haley, Andrew, Karl, Joseph, and Cassy; great-granddaughter: Jocelyn; siblings: Nancy Kalb, Bob Miller, and Martha Monaghan.

Marlene's gentle nature, generosity, unyielding strength, and weakness for sweets are just some of the qualities her family, friends, and faith community will deeply miss.

Friends may visit at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A. on Sunday, March 5th, from 4:30-8 PM. A Mass of resurrection will be held at St. Andrew by the Bay Catholic Church on Monday, March 6th, at 11 AM. A reception will follow in the church hall. The interment service for family and close friends will be at New Cathedral Cemetery, 4300 Old Frederick Rd, Baltimore, MD 21229, on Tuesday, March 7 th at 11am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew by the Bay Bereavement Ministry or St. Vincent De Paul Society at 701 College Parkway, Annapolis, MD 21409.
