Mark Christopher Bastian died peacefully at Highland Park Hospital in West Highland Park, Illinois, on February 5, 2025, leaving this world for his heavenly home after courageously battling his third bout of cancer. Born in Evergreen Park, Illinois on August 21, 1959, Mark most recently resided in Northbrook, Illinois. Formerly a long-time resident of Severna Park, Maryland, Mark was a beloved husband and soulmate of the late Julita (Lita) Quillang Bastian; son of the late Frederick and Phyllis (Ohlander) Bastian; and brother of the late Philip Bastian of Deerfield, Illinois.

After receiving a Master's Degree in Engineering at the University of Illinois in Urbana, Mark moved to Maryland to work for Westinghouse/Northrup Grumman for forty years.

Mark was known for his quick wit and poker-faced humor, and his humble, quiet nature. He was a devoted Catholic with a special love of our Blessed Mother, and a long-time parishioner at St. John the Evangelist Church.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church (689 Ritchie Hwy.; Severna Park, MD 21146) on Saturday, March 8th, at 10 a.m.

Interment will follow Mass at Lakemont Memorial Gardens, 900 W. Central Ave.; Davidsonville, MD 21035.
