Our mother was truly a remarkable woman. Not only did she receive a bachelor's degree in Sociology from Allegheny College in 1941, she went on to receive a master's degree in Physical Education from Wellesley in 1943.

Widowed at the age of 39 and with three children, she became a professor in the phys. ed. department at Ohio State University. In 1961 she remarried and we moved to Maryland. Widowed again at age 44 and with two more children, she again became a phys. ed. professor, this time at Anne Arundel Community College. She taught there for 20 years eventually becoming head of the women's department. In 1978 she met and married her third husband, who had five children as well. They enjoyed a long life together until his death in 2012.

Our mom was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Clara Wible, her sister Maxine Wible Davis, and her three husbands, Edgar S. Wood, John O. Jones, and Robert M. Schaller.

She is survived by her children, Pamela Wood Ernst (Peter), Deborah Wood Appleyard (Robert), Jeffrey Wood (Diana), Wendell Jones (Lynn), and Susan Jones Snyder (Michael), Mary Schaller McConnell, Karen Schaller Connolly (Tom), Betsy Schaller, Eileen Schaller Bahrami, and Robert Schaller Jr. (Brenda), her niece, Victoria Davis Sower (Chuck) and her nephew, Tres Davis (Roberta). She also has numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren to whom she was Nannie and Grandma.

We could go to great length to describe our mom and her life and what she meant to us. She was a loving, caring and nuturing person. She provided for us and took care of us so that we were never lonely, afraid or worried about our future. She was a provider but most of all, a survivor and for that she was richly rewarded.

A celebration of our mother's life will be held Monday, November 6, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Wood's Presbyterian Church, 611 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd, Severna Park, MD 21146, where she was a member for 54 years. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Woods Memorial or the Anne Arundel Community College Annual Fund.
