Marissa A. Thomas a 10 year resident Fort Meade, Md. past away on March 26, 2009 at University of Maryland medical center after a week long battle with pneumonia. She was born in Plattsburg, New York on May 9, 1988 to Lillie and Wiliam H. Thomas. Her past residences included Erps Kwerps, Belgium Colorado Springs Colorado and Plattsburgh, New York. She was a student at Bowie State University where she major in visual communication in digital media art she was also employed at the art lab and the art gallery. Her hobbies and interest included the honors program, electric and acoustic guitar, digital art, animation, graphic design, martial arts (Tang Soo Do) and drawing Anime.

Focused, meticulous, playful, nurturing, creative, and uncompromising; you see her physical form in the photo, now allow these few words to paint a more complete portrait of Marissa Thomas.
Nothing she put her mind to was impossible for her. Her ability to focus far surpassed that of the average person, making learning the guitar enough to win competitions in one semester and learning multiple languages such as French and Japanese look easy. She excelled in the Honors program and even made it to yellow belt in about six months in her Martial Arts style, Tang Soo Do. She was meticulous- any form of material chaos drove her on a cleaning rampage, leaving the area spotless, sparkly.
Like her ability to leave a once dingy area brighter, her playful and nurturing nature left a brilliant trail of laughter and cheer in her wake. In middle school, she greatly enjoyed raising plants and little critters like her walking sticks, snails, and 'rolly pollies.' In high school, she thrived as a Sunday school teacher for toddlers and until recently, remained a highly sought after babysitter. To this day and as long as she is remembered she will always be known for her quirky mannerisms and slobbery kisses.
Through the VCDMA program at Bowie State University she has learned how to develop her creativity and express herself through art. Although she entered college having already sold excellent works, the program helped greatly refine her talent and liberate her to portray her inner most thoughts.
Faith was the frame in which she lived her life. She was uncompromising, standing up for what she believed in calmly, persistently and without wavering.
Let this more complete portrait of Marissa Thomas sink in. And now, to add a little décor on the frame of her life, consider her favorite scripture,

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety, Psalm 4:8.

Marissa is survived by her Father William H. Thomas, her mother Lillie M. Thomas, two sisters; Lillie M. Thomas II and Alyssa M. Thomas; two brothers William H. Thomas II and Matthew Azariah Thomas; 14 Aunts, 7 Uncles, 56 first cousins; and a host of other relatives and friends.
