IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marion
Venckus
February 8, 1924 – November 28, 2021
Marion (Marino) Venckus, 97, of Arnold, MD passed away on Sunday, Nov 28th, peacefully in her sleep at home. She was born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey to Donato and Florence Marino who immigrated from the coastal-mountain village of Trentinara, Italy. Marion graduated from the Jersey City School system. She attended business school and gained skills for her job at Underwriters Laboratory in New York City and later at the Federal Shipyard supporting WWII war efforts. She later worked with her husband to establish and support a trucking business. She raised her family in a loving environment and extended that love to family and friends. Marion was caring, warm, and much loved. She had the unique ability to make people feel special. She was everyone's "favorite aunt."
After her husband died, she frequently visited her daughters in Maryland and eventually moved there. She was an active member in their household and an attentive and loving grandmother. Marion nourished her grandchildren with food and love. When Marion was in her 80's she went back to college to refine her Italian language so when she traveled to Italy, she would be more fluent. Marion and her family later met her relatives in the village where her parents were born.
Marion is predeceased by her husband Anthony Venckus, her son Anthony, and her siblings: Irene, Martin, Agostino, Carmen, Alfonso, Rosaria and Angela. Marion is survived by her daughters Mary Anne and her husband Paul Marchese, Regina and her husband Thomas Lockwood of Arnold, MD and cherished grandchildren Kathryn, Jonathan, and Maria Lockwood. There will be a Catholic Mass on Thursday December 2, 2021 at 11 am at St. Andrew By the Bay Catholic Church 701 College Pkwy, Annapolis, MD 21409. The interment at St Joseph's Cemetery, Toms River, New Jersey will be private. In memory of Marion - the family asks you to reach out to a friend or family member and make them feel special and remind them they are loved.
