Marion "Biddy" Antionette Friedel, (nee Kelly), 92, resident of Arnold, died February 22, 2011 at Heritage Harbor Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born and raised in Washington, DC. Past residences include Portsmouth, VA, Hyattsville, Severna Park, and Largo.
Mrs. Friedel worked as a telephone switchboard operator for C & P Telephone. During World War II she worked at Norfolk Naval Yard and Middle Atlantic Conference in Riverdale, MD. During the Vietnam War she volunteered at Andrews Airforce Base and assisted returning Vietnam veterans in calling their families. She loved dancing, being with her grandchildren, reading, and eating chocolate candy.
Mrs. Friedel is survived by her husband John Edward Friedel, Jr., of Arnold, and daughters, Gloria Antionette Baublitz Goldfaden, of Mount Dora, FL, and Deborah Anne Lynch of Arnold, MD. As well as her grandchildren Shawn, Shana, Stefan, Simon, Michael, Travis, and Lauren, and 9 great grandchildren.
Friends and family may visit on Thursday, February, 24th from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Barranco and Sons P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy in Severna Park. A mass will be held Friday, February 25th at 11 am at St. John the Evangelist Church in Severna Park, with a burial following at MD Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the American Cancer Society.
