Marie Schumann Andrews passed away on August 8, 2025. She was 105.

Marie was known for her unabashed devotion to her family. She possessed a sharp mind and athletic prowess. Her love of travel took her to six continents; France was her favorite destination. Resilient and determined she made a life for herself grounded in fairness and independence.

Marie was born June 11, 1920 to Theodore Schumann and Thekla (nee Burnham)  Schumann in Manhattan, New York. She grew up in Manhattan and as a young woman danced on Broadway.  She attended the Horace Mann School For Girls in New York City and earned her Bachelor's degree from Russell Sage College. After marrying, she raised her family in Eastchester, New York. She moved to Dublin, Ohio following her husband's death to live near her daughter. There she was a member of the Worthington Hills Country Club and enjoyed playing tennis and bridge. She authored a book "Nothing Lasts Forever ", a personal depiction of her pre-World War II life to the present, to memorialize and make aware the cancer that took her daughter's life. Marie recently moved to Severna Park, Maryland to be near her son.

She is survived by  her son, Dr. Robert H. Andrews, Jr. (Jean)  of Severna Park, Maryland; her grandson, Dr. Michael Hays (Hannah) and their children Dagney, Pippa, Henry and William; her grandson, Lee Hays (Carrie) and their children Drew and Katie;  her grandson Rob Hays (Rachel) and  their children Annabelle and Amanda; her granddaughter Alison Mackley (Sean) and their children Brooke, Collin and Declan; her granddaughter Jennifer Dudderar (Jason) and their children Caroline, Jane and Claire.

Marie was predeceased by her husband, Robert H. Andrews  in 1985 and her daughter, Joan Andrews Hays in 2013.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ohio State University Foundation , Joan Andrews Hays cancer research fund, fund number 643032, P. O. Box 736096, Chicago, IL 60673.

She will be privately interred at Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla, New York at a later date.
