Marian Louise Dietz (nee Bagnall), 88, died on March 10, 2009 at home in Arnold, due to natural causes.
She was born December 25, 1920 in Brooklyn, NY, where she was raised. Her past residences were in Norfolk, VA; Newport, RI; Key West, FL; Bayonne, NJ; Charleston, SC and Brooklyn, NY. She married Theodore Albert Dietz on April 23, 1947.
She attended Abraham Lincoln High School in Brooklyn, NY. She retired as Director of Tour Services, USNA after 28 years. She was the Admirals Secretary for the British Ministry of War Transport during WWII, and an Arthur Murray Dance Instructor.
Mrs. Dietz was a charter member of Arundel Vocal Arts Society, a member of the Adult Choir & Women of Woods at Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church, a member of the USNA Wives' Club and Garden Club. She enjoyed ballroom dancing and singing.
She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Dorothy Bagnall and Margaret Ella Van Meter.
Survivors include her husband Theodore Albert Dietz of Arnold, MD; one son Theodore Emmens Dietz of Pasadena, MD; one daughter, Marian Magdelena Day of Oriental, NC; three grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and eight nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, 13 March at 1:00 PM at Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church, 611 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd. in Severna Park. Arrangements made by Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home. Interment will be private.
