Estrella Stickney passed away on June 28, 2026, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 31, 1937 in Sevilla Spain. Having lost both of her parents at a very young age, she was lovingly raised by her abuela, Maria Dominguez Martin, and surrounded by the love and companionship of her cousins, who were always an important part of her life.

In Rota, Spain, she met the love of her life, an American sailor, David Stickney. Their chance meeting outside the naval base blossomed into a lifelong love, and together they built a beautiful family of five children. As a devoted military wife, she embraced the sacrifices and adventures of military life with strength and grace.

Following David’s retirement, she moved her family to the United States, where she continued her career in retail before finding her true calling as a child caretaker, earning the beloved nickname “the Spanish Mary Poppins” by the many families whose children she helped raise and nurture.

Her deep Catholic faith guided a life of service, including volunteering at a women’s correctional institution for several years and three decades of volunteering at Mary's Center.

Her family was the center of her world. She treasured every opportunity to be with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, never missing a birthday, celebration, or simple moment together. She gave of herself freely, offering endless love, time, and devotion.

She is survived by her five children -Susie Padezanin (Jude), Vicky Kiskis (Dave), Debby Stickney, David Stickney Jr (Mary), Jessee Macey and 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren that were a cherished and integral part of her life.

If willing, please recite the Chaplet of Divine Mercy for her, remember her in your Rosary intention or offer a Catholic memorial Mass for Estrella.
