IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Margaret L.
Sweeney
July 13, 1946 – September 25, 2021
Margaret Louise Sweeney, 75, of Annapolis died September 25, 2021 from brain cancer.
"Marge" was born July 13, 1946 in Carrolltown, PA to Bernard and Genevieve, where she lived with her siblings Donald Rietscha, Mary Ann Gabriel, and William Rietscha.
She met and married her husband, John Sweeney of Pittsburgh, PA in May of 1967 after meeting in Washington DC where she was working for the Red Cross. Together, they raised their family in Moundsville, West Virginia before relocating to the Annapolis area of Maryland where Marge worked as a secretary for the state of MD at Crownsville State Psychiatric Hospital and the Correctional Mental Health Center in Jessup, MD.
Marge was happiest surrounded by her 2 sons and daughter and their spouses: Sean and Kathryn (Baskette) Sweeney, Thomas, and Kristie (Sweeney) and Matthew Hughes. However her greatest joy was being a proud grandma to Patrick, Alison, Colin, Ryan, Samuel, Nathan, Vanessa and Logan. She was born to be a grandma, and was known as "Grandma Marge" to the children of many friends and neighbors.
She was a lover of the outdoors, enjoyed traveling, dancing, spending time with friends, and had the most infectious laugh. She was master of baking pepperoni rolls and coined the phrase "snacky things".
She joins her parents, husband, John, and grandson, Patrick in Heaven.
