Margaret Bertha Berk Reid, 84, a resident of Severna Park since 1941 and formerly of Chesco Park in Baltimore County, died of cancer April 12 at home.

Mrs. Reid was born Aug. 7, 1920, in Baltimore County. She was co-owner and operator of H.M. Reid & Sons, a paving business which she started in 1956 with her late husband, Hunter Reid Sr. She drove trucks for the company for 26 years. Most of their business was conducted in the Severna Park area and in Kent, Queen Anne's and Howard counties.

Mrs. Reid was a longtime member of Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church in Severna Park, where she was in the Ladies Auxiliary, serving as secretary in the 1950s.

She was the mother of the late Carol Ann Saunders.

Surviving are three sons, Hunter Reid Jr. of Severna Park, Charles William Reid of East Berlin, Pa., and John Robert Reid of New Oxford, Pa.; nine grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial will follow in Glen Haven Cemetery.
