IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Margaret M.
Moss
October 20, 1939 – November 25, 2020
Margaret (Meg) Mitani Moss passed away on November 25, 2020. She was born on October 20, 1939 to Shinkichi and Mari Nozawa in Kobe, Japan. Meg, her mother and sister moved to Los Angeles when she was 8. She attended Dorsey High School and then graduated USC with a B.S. in Occupational Therapy (OT).
After completing her OT internship at Rancho Los Amigos (Downey, CA), she worked at Orthopedic Hospital in L.A. as well as overseas at Rehabilitation Centers in England and Switzerland. Meg returned to Ranch Los Amigos, where she worked in various capacities for the remainder of her professional career. She was Clinical Manager of the department for three vital pediatric services: Pediatric Medical, Children's Reconstructive, and Spine Deformities. She later became responsible for the Arthritis Service, the Burn and Reconstructive Service, Orthopedic Reconstructive, and Gerontology Services. She was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award for her dedication and excellent work ethic for her time at Rancho. Meg was known by colleagues as an innovator, skilled clinician, mentor, and friend. After her retirement from clinical practice in 1990, Meg organized and ran the "Flower Cart", which became Rancho's most successful fundraising activity. She and her volunteers made flower arrangements which patients, visitors, and staff could purchase. Meg was also known for her exquisite arrangements for special occasions.
Meg was an active contributor to her professional organizations, on the local, state, and national levels. She loved to travel and was an avid gardener. Meg delighted friends and family as a gourmet cook who produced culinary creations just as innovative as her floral arrangements. She had a love for animals and adored her pets. Meg enjoyed spending time with her husband and vast circle of friends. Family and friends will gather to celebrate Meg's life after the pandemic abates.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gaylord Moss. She is survived by her sister, Norma Uemura of Millersville; her half-brother, Bob Nozawa of Tokyo, Japan; as well as numerous cousins, friends, and colleagues.
