Margaret Emily McGahan of Anne Arundel County, died of natural causes Feb. 1 at Future Care Chesapeake. She was 101 years old.

Mrs. McGahan was born May 1, 1906, in Charles County to the late Edward and Katherine Adams. She graduated from St. Paul Institute, where she studied nursing.

She worked in several area hospitals, Gallaudet School for the Deaf in Washington, D.C., and the Maryland School for the Deaf in Frederick, and ERRCO in Riverdale.

She enjoyed gardening, fishing, crocheting, and playing the slots.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Portman E. McGahan, whom she married in 1923; and three daughters, Jesse Worden Powers, Elsie "Trixie" Marie Martin and Patricia Sue Wilson.

Survivors include 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the funeral home. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Suitland.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD 21401.
