Margaret H. Hastings, 97, passed away peacefully Saturday April 11, 2015 at Charlestown Retirement Community. She was born and raised in Baltimore, MD.  She graduated from Seton High School and received a degree in Mathematics from the College of Notre Dame, Baltimore in 1941. Prior to moving to Charlestown in 2003, Margaret was a resident of Severna Park for 51 years.  She was an active parishioner at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and a teacher at the parish school until retiring in 1980. Margaret was an active member of the community, serving multiple terms as president of Inner Wheel.  Reading, boating, rug hooking and needlepoint were Margaret's favorite pastimes.

She is predeceased by her husband, Melvin, and survived by her 2 children, Charles (Nita) of Annapolis and Mary Elizabeth [Libby] (Tom) Slovenkay of Gainesville, VA.  She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Valerie (Seth) Young, Heather Hastings, Margaret and Kate Slovenkay.

Friends and family are welcomed for a visitation on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 from 3:00pm-5:00pm and 7:00pm-9:00pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home.

A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 11:00am with a visitation beforehand beginning at 10:30am at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, 711 Maiden Choice Lane, Catonsville, MD.
