Manya H. Sofield, born on July 8, 1939, passed away on November 22.

Manya was adopted by Wilbur and Elizabeth Harman, who welcomed her into their hearts and home. She grew into a cherished presence in the lives of all who knew her, remembered for her profound kindness, her deep love, and the gentle compassion she extended to everyone she met. Her special love of animals reflected her generous spirit and tender heart.

For many years, Manya was a devoted stay-at-home mother, raising her family with unwavering love and patience. She later continued her commitment to caring for others both as a bus aide for Prince George’s County and as a school cafeteria worker, where her warmth and steady presence brought comfort to the children she served each day.

Manya found great joy in crafting, creating beautiful projects and sharing them generously with those around her. Her creativity brought comfort, joy, and lasting memories to family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Elizabeth Harman, and her sons, Raymond Sofield III and Bruce Sofield.

Manya is survived by her children: Deborah Maynard, Traci Sofield, Benita Kemper, and Christopher Sofield. She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Dawn Kayton (Craig), Kristal Trohanowsky (Mark), Jason Lusby (Mandi), Tim Turner (Carol), Travis Turner, Tommy Turner, Zach Maynard, Amber Wines (Grant), Jason Peach, Anthony Sofield, Brooke Sofield, and Brandi Sofield, as well as many great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter, all of whom brought her immense joy and pride.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the SPCA, honoring Manya’s lifelong love of animals.

Her love, warmth, and gentle presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 from 12pm to 2pm at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A., 495 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, MD 21146. A memorial service will be held at 2pm in the funeral home.
