Major Bobby Gene Gregory, Jr. USMC Ret., 50, a resident of Arnold, died on April 18, 2010, at home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on October 22, 1959 in Germany, Bobby lived an adventurous and well traveled military life, both as a child and as an adult. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1979 and retired in 1999 after twenty years of service. During his time in the Marine Corps, Bobby graduated from the University of Colorado in 1984 with a BS in Electrical Engineering and received his Masters in Electrical Engineering in 1992 from Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, CA. His love for the service never faded and he became Deputy Director of Research & Development at the U.S. Naval Academy in 2001.
Bobby was a true family man and spent most of his time with his wife and three children. He enjoyed family vacations to Breckenridge, Colorado, beach vacations to Wrightsville Beach, NC and sporting events of all kinds. He was baptized in December of 2005 and walked closely with God until his passing.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Laurene E. Gregory of Arnold; his son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Courtney Gregory, of Pasadena; his daughter and son-in-law, Courtney and Bryan Parfitt of Arnold; his daughter Jacquelyn Gregory and her boyfriend Byron Greene, of Arnold; his puppy Opie Butkus of Arnold; two grandchildren, Camryn E. Gregory and Lucas W. Gregory; mother, Alice Gregory of Oklahoma City, OK; two sisters, Susan Rawls of Oklahoma City, OK and Patricia Barth of Dallas, TX; brother, Kenneth Gregory of Dallas, TX; Parents-in-law, Gordon and Kathryn Miner of Frisco, CO.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at 4:00 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Gov. Ritchie Hwy in Severna Park.
Interment will be private.
