M. Jane Schumacher, age 92, was a long-time resident of Severna Park, MD. She died, surrounded by family members, in the Round Bay home that she loved for 64 years.

Jane studied Architecture at the University of Cincinnati where she met her husband Ray of 59 years.

During her teenage years, her family moved to the then secret city of Oak Ridge, Tennessee as it was being built under the Manhattan Project to support WWII efforts. After college, she returned to Oak Ridge to work as a draftsman in one of the famous plants that was used for atomic development.

Jane was a Master Gardener and Certified Landscape Critic, as well as a recognized expert of Indoor Gardening while a member of the Hollyberry Garden Club. She was always the flower arranger extraordinaire in the family.

She enjoyed creating beautiful gardens and landscape features at her home in Round Bay and, along with her husband Ray, designed and constructed their vacation home in the mountains of Virginia.

Jane and Ray loved to travel. Their travels took them to such amazing places as Egypt and Portugal. With the family, they traveled to Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, Alaska (on the Alaskan Highway!), Tahiti and Hawaii.

Her family was of utmost importance to her. She is survived by her two daughters, Deborah Allen (Robert) and Claire Allard (Martin), her daughter-in-law Carmen Schumacher (Jon) and granddaughters Christina Schumacher and Alena Taylor (Luke), and her sister Gerrianne Riddle (Jack) and their children (Stephen, Susan (Rob) and Becky) and grandchildren (Alora, Lochlyn and Rowyn).

Jane is pre-deceased by her husband Raymond Schumacher and their son Jon Raymond Schumacher.

Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A, 495 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, MD, 21146.

Interment Service will be on Thursday, September 29th at 1:45 at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery Chapel in Crownsville.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Angel Care Network, Anne Arundel Medical Center and Chesapeake Hospice for the loving care they provided.
